San Diego-based Hispanic Chamber of e-commerce to host free mixer event tomorrow at Rady Children's Hospital

Story by Emily Anderson

In this day and age of people competing for attention with one another using their social networking sites, it's hard for any one person or company to stand out ahead of others.

The Hispanic Chamber of e-commerce, a San Diego-based for-profit organization, is relatively new to California, having incorporated in the state in 2008.

According to Tayde Aburto of the Hispanic Chamber of e-commerce, the company hosts mixer events once a month. Tomorrow night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. a free mixer will be held at Rady Children's Hospital, in the auxiliary building, located at 7910 Frost St., on the corner of Frost Street and Health Center Drive, close to Highway 163. The event will consist of food, wine and a deejay.

It's estimated that at least 90 people have registered; register at www.hisec.com to secure a spot.
According to their Web site, "The Hispanic Chamber of E-Commerce is a B2B membership-based national small business association focused on providing tools and solutions to members to increase their presence online."

The sponsor of this mixer is Fresh Start Surgical Gifts; a non-profit organization with offices based in Carlsbad, Calif. Fresh Start provides reconstructive plastic surgery to children and youth, according to their Web site.

Michelle Pius, Director of Major Gifts for Fresh Start, will be at the mixer.
"The majority of our children are Spanish language kids, so we are reaching out to the Hispanic business community to inform them of our services and we bring kids in from across the border and all over the world," she said.

The surgeries are performed in San Diego.

Mixer events are great networking tools in which both host and sponsor organizations inform interested public attendees.

"The purpose of this mixer is to actually get to know people and see how we can all help each other out because we are all small business owners" Aburto said.

Although the event is free, a raffle may be held to raise money for Fresh Start Surgical Gifts.
